If risk equals reward, then team Rusty had a surplus of benefits coming their way on their recent trip down the warm and welcoming land of Nicaragua with SURFING mag. A little ‘ol game called scorpion roulette became the recklessly self-inflicted pastime, and so the team’s trip motto was born – don’t get stung.
There should be no itinerary. There should be no maps. No plans. No set outline of how your journey will go. A true roadtrip is one that unfolds organically in whatever direction you desire at the time. And that’s exactly how Josh Kerr and Damien Hobgood led their recent adventure up the west coast.
During the Margaret River Drug Aware Pro, Josh Kerr, who was in town to surf the event, got some real good surfing done outside of the jersey. And, he wasn't alone. Rusty teammate, Noa Deane, also rolled in to town hoping to score North Point again (he killed it there last year), but ultimately settled for some rather decent Box, and made the most of WA's plethora of wind-assisted ramps in the peripherals. Noa certainly doesn't surf The Box like someone who grew up on the Gold Coast points – he rides it like a local.
Rusty are looking for a talented creative to join our team.

SURFING MAGAZINE FACTORY
It sounds cliche, sure, but Noa Deane is at a point where every wave he surfs commands your attention. Every single time he stands up, something exciting happens. It could be the biggest air you’ve ever seen. Could be an unpredicted ollie. Might even be a belly flop to the flats. No matter what it is, it almost certainly excited you.
Click here for three minutes of excitement. It was all filmed in just over a week somewhere near Margaret River. You should probably watch it twice.
